"Sarah's" surgery

On Dec. 5th my beautiful baby is having surgery.
I'm just sick about it. I love the way she looks now. I fell in love with that face! I am so sad that she has to go through this, one minute she is pain free, she knows how to eat, she can say Mama.... then she will wake up. I wish I could go through it for her.
I try to imagine what she will look like when I see her and I just can't picture it. I know the doctor's are great and I hope the same is for the nurses.
She is a very strong baby. She barely cries when she gets shots. God is with her and this is what is best for her... it just really stinks that her life has to start out like this.
I am praying that I will be strong, because I am certainly not feeling it right now. I had a dream that I saw her and started crying. She does not need that.
Prayers are needed and appreciated.
Thanks for reading.

Hi,

I just noticed you in my list of followers. If you want, I can "introduce" you to our other cleft friends who can be there for you to offer support and advice on surgery, and everything else that goes with it. It is completely normal to feel apprehensive about the surgery and your beautiful girls face changing. That was the hardest part for me when Abby had her first surgery. I'm not sure if you've read through Abby's cleft journey, but If you haven't, please do. It may help you know that how you are feeling is okay. You will make it through, and "Sarah" will amaze you with how well she does. Please let me know if we can help in any way. I would love to meet to talk sometime. Let me know.

Allison

Hi! I followed you over here from Allison's blog. I'm in Washington too and my little baby boy had his lip surgery done by Dr. Birgfeld in August. It was definitely hard for me to let go of that wide smile of his... and the post-surgery swelling does NOT help matters. I'm sure you'll feel like I did and just wish for Sarah's old face back. But with time, it will heal and you'll fall in love with her new smile. And kiss those new lips! Having Allison was GREAT and all of these other cleft mommies. They'll answer any questions you have! Feel free to check out my site - if you go back to August, you can see the post-surgery pics. I'll be praying for Sarah as her surgery comes!

Welcome to our little 'group'. I don't usually have much to say, but just wanted to welcome you. I felt the same way... feel free to go back in my archives and read about our experiences. Lily's surgery was August 6th last year.
You will be in our thoughts!
